The Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner (PSIC) is required to issue annual reports. These typically comprise more than 30 pages of text, but nearly all of the useful information is on one page of statistics, plus a page of footnotes which give the reasons for rejection.
The charts and tables below summarize the reasons for rejection over the three-year period 2008-2011. (The Commissioner's first annual report did not disclose this information.)
Rejection of Disclosures of Wrongdoing
The following chart and table show the reasons given for rejection of disclosures of wrongdoing – either refusing to investigate or arriving at a finding of no wrongdoing – during the three-year period 2008-2011. Other Statistics
Also see PSIC Performance Statistics for 2007-2011.
Note that it is not possible to reconcile the rejection statistics on this page with the performance statistics. There are several reasons for this, including:
- The statistics for rejections are available only the two-year period 2008-2010, while the performance statistics cover the full three years. (The Commissioner's first annual report did not disclose this information.) Figures for 2010-2011 were requested and provided by PSIC.
- Starting in the 2009-2010 annual report, multiple reasons are given for rejection of reprisals ( both dominant and secondary reasons). The statistics given above include both.
